Description

I just got back from a three-week language training course in Edinburgh Scotland organized by my university, and as a part of it, we had to give a presentation on some aspect of scottish culture. My group chose to tell about a few more or less known scottish mythical creatures, and one of them was the kelpie.

Kelpie (no, not the dog breed) is basically a water horse with a constantly dripping mane and wet coat whose favourite pastime is to drown (and devour) people by luring them to ride them, at which point their skin becomes sticky like glue effectively preventing the rider from dismounting, and then dashing off to a body of water. Being shapeshifters, they often take the form of a man or a woman, though female kelpies are said to be rare. They are mostly seen as malevolent, but according to some stories some of them are rather benevolent and can be considered as guardian spirits. There's much more to kelpies than that though, and on the whole I find them quite fascinating.

So, here's something I drew for the presentation, but since I didn't have as much time to work on it as I would have liked to have, it lacks a proper background and such.
