Adall the Cobalion

Description

I rather like Cobalion's design, and it's my favourite of the new legendary trio (or "the three musketeers"). Also, it's desing is exactly the kind that almost forced me to make a plushie of it, the colors, the shape...simply perfect for a plushie.

I didn't want to make the plushie too stiff, but instead something that resembles a beanie baby. But that's where the problems began... I had no idea what you call those small plastic grains/pellets they put inside beanie babies. I had a hunch of which words to use when trying to look the stuff up in the internet, and I did find "plastic pellets" for plushies on ebay, but their postage was far too expensive. But while I had some idea of what the stuff is called in English, i just seemed to be unable to find any name for it in Finnish, so trying to look for it in local stores was practically impossible.

After a long and futile search, I decided that I would use rice instead of plastic pellets, since they were what I used for similar plushies as a kid. But since I realized that if the plushie would ever get wet for some reason, or had to be in a humid environment sometime, the rice would most likely start to go bad.

Luckily, someone brought me some very small glass pieces (and though they are glass, they don''t have any sharp edges or points) used for decoration, and suggested that I'd give it a try. I was a bit sceptical at first, but decided to go with it, and I'm glad I did.

The stuff is quite heavy, which means that I needed only a small amount of it (I made small pouches which I filled with the stuff and put one inside every of the plushie's "hooves") per pouch. Plus, because it's so heavy, I noticed that the plushie can actually stand because the heavy hooves support him! X3
The rest of the plushie is filled with normal plushie filling.

The fabric used is mostly fleece (the color is too bluish for a Cobalion, but I couldn't find the exact color), with some faux fur for his chest. I was supposed to write down how much time I spent making it every time I had made some progress with it, but somewhere along the way I just forgot to do it. But it did take a long time, that much I can say.

I also wanted to make the plushie look like an individual this time, and added the two scars near his left eye, and the red ribbon on his shoulder spike (and named him, of course). His spots are also different from the official Cobalion's.

And so, Adall the Cobalion was born!

Oh, and this time, I wanted to provide the art for myself, hence the Cobalion doodle.

I do not own pokemon or Cobalion, Nintendo does
